Snowmaking Manager – Full-Time, Year-Round

Powder Ridge is a premier year-round resort offering an exciting range of activities in every season,
from thrilling winter sports to fun-filled summer adventures. We are seeking an experienced and
dedicated Snowmaking Manager to join our team and help us continue providing exceptional snow
conditions for our guests during the winter months. This is a full-time, year-round position that
includes both winter snowmaking operations and summer maintenance work.
Position Overview
As the Snowmaking Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our snowmaking
operations, ensuring optimal snow conditions for skiers, snowboarders, and other guests during
the winter season. The potential to start making snow starting in October with our Snow Factory.
You will lead a team of snowmaking technicians, coordinate daily operations, and ensure that all
snowmaking equipment is maintained and operating efficiently. The position requires strong
leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for winter sports and resort operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Snowmaking Operations: Oversee the daily snowmaking operations, including monitoring
weather conditions, adjusting snowmaking equipment, and ensuring the production of
high-quality snow across the resort. - Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of snowmaking staff to ensure
smooth and efficient operations during the winter season. - Equipment Maintenance: Ensure snowmaking equipment is well-maintained, perform
regular inspections, and coordinate repairs and troubleshooting when necessary. - Resource Management: Manage snowmaking resources, including water and energy
consumption, to maximize efficiency while maintaining high-quality snow conditions. - Seasonal Planning: Develop and execute snowmaking strategies based on weather
forecasts, seasonal conditions, and resort needs. - Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., ski patrol, mountain operations)
to ensure that snowmaking supports the resort’s overall goals and guest experience. - Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety
regulations and protocols for snowmaking equipment and staff operations.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in snowmaking or related operations, with at least 2 years in a
leadership or managerial role. - Strong technical knowledge of snowmaking equipment, including fan guns, air/water
compressors, snowmaking systems, and maintenance techniques. - Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment under varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- A passion for skiing, snowboarding, or mountain activities is a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a year-round resort environment.
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and energy-efficient snowmaking.
- Familiarity with resort operations and guest service.
