SOLD – Did you ever test or purchase a Johnson Controls J10 snowgun?
York Snow was purchased by Johnson Controls (around 2006) and JC set out to design the best fangun on the market. It was a big project with a lot of hope to gain market share, until the recession of 2008. Snowgun sales fell off and customer support wasn’t there for this new design. I personally saw these machines running in Colorado and Utah and a few people spoke highly of them. They went through many changes and the included photos appear to be the last design.
The J10 snowguns were known to be extremely efficient, ran on 480 volts, 30 amp service, had nozzles that didn’t clog and were easy to remove and change. The airflow for only 10 HP was very good with good throw. Many of the parts were readily available from outside sources.
Techno Alpin purchased Johnson Controls in 2012 and the leftover J10 inventory was included. Techno Alpin has contracted with CHS Snowmakers to move this equipment. The prices are incredibly low and many of these guns can be run with minimal work. Several ski areas are building their own fanguns and the J10 barrels with a fan and motor could be ideal for this. Maybe you could experiment with a new design of your own.
Here is the scoop, email me what you are interested in and I will put your name on the list. You are welcome to see the equipment in Vermont in person and pick out what you want. The equipment will have a lot number on it to keep it organized. We will settle on a purchase price and CHS Snowmakers will invoice you. When we receive payment, you are free to pick up the equipment or arrange shipping. Assistance with a loading dock and a forklift is available with advanced notice.
